Mind the Tech NY 2022 kicked off with a prestigious gala event on Wednesday night, hosted by Kakalyst and Bank Lumi. More than 500 entrepreneurs, investors and top experts from the world of technology and finance attended The Top of the Standard Lounge at the top of New York’s Standard Hotel.
The attendees were welcomed by Minister of Economy Anat Katz of Israel’s Economic Mission to the US-East Coast in North America. “The global pandemic, supply chain disruptions and the war between Russia and Ukraine, among other factors, make 2022 a rocky year,” Katz said. “Israeli tech companies play a big role in the global ecosystem, so many of them have had a negative impact. Compared to the first half of 2021, we’ve seen a significant reduction in funding, but we’re seeing more seed and pre-seed rounds, which still have a lot of impact on Israeli tech companies.” It shows that there is demand. While investors’ risk appetite is moving from growth companies to early-stage companies, Israel’s technology and innovation has maintained its reputation and remains a clear asset to the Israeli economy.
The main event of the BrainTech NY 2022 conference will take place on Thursday at New York’s Apella Alexandria, where the Israeli delegation to the conference will be led by Innovation, Science and Technology Minister Orit Farkash-Hacohen.
