v The Federal Emergency Management Agency is awarding $7,625,122 to Henry Ford Health to cover costs incurred in response to the COVID-19 outbreak.
U.S. Rep. Debbie Dingell (D-12th District), who recently made the announcement, said Henry Ford Health has been instrumental in providing care throughout the outbreak in Southeast Michigan.
“From emergency response to Covid-19 to allowing people to continue their normal health care needs, their work has helped keep our communities safe and healthy during this crisis,” Dingle said. This funding will cover most of the costs faced in the early months of the pandemic and will allow many to continue to rely on services.
Dr. Adnan Munkarah, Henry Ford Health’s executive vice president and chief clinical officer, said the COVID-19 pandemic has presented unique challenges to health care systems across the country, with far-reaching effects that are still being seen today.
“At Henry Ford Health, we have worked tirelessly to address critical supply shortages and staffing challenges, develop tests and vaccines, and expand into virtual care to protect staff and patient safety,” Munkarah said.
“These resources will help support the critical work our employees have done and continue to do, which underscores our responsibility and commitment to keeping our communities healthy. We are deeply grateful to Congresswoman Dingell for her continued support and commitment to ensuring that the people of Michigan have access to quality health care.”
The funding covers costs associated with managing and mitigating medical care and transportation services, and immediate threats to public health and safety.
