One of the biggest challenges facing the burgeoning digital fashion space—as it has been described otherwise. Designers and programmers Working to dress up the virtual avatars that come to fill the new ones vice versa-He has been balancing the priorities of both fashion veterans and Web3 pioneers.
Some of the most popular Metaverse platforms, such as Decentralized And The sandboxThey have received a lot of attention in Web3 circles due to their work on A “unauthorized” Structure: Digital assets—like virtual dresses, for example—can flow freely in and out of them.
These same platforms, however, tend to be built in very simple 3D models.
Sandbox, for example, uses a “voxelled” aesthetic signature (think pixels, but with cubes). Some industry experts feel that such restrictions, cartoon ecosystems are not qualified to serve as a testing ground for the future of digital fashion.
“The reality is that many brands do not consider the sandbox or any voxelized environment suitable for fashion,” said Richard Hobbs, CEO of digital fashion platform BNV. Decrypt Video interview.
Hobbs believes BNV—which, in addition to creating digital fashion pieces, also acts as a conduit between traditional fashion brands and design tools—has solved this dilemma. Within the next month, the company plans to release a beta version of BNV World, its own Metaverse platform specifically designed to showcase complex and sophisticated digital fashion pieces to Metaverse citizens.
BNV World builds together. Unreal engine, a live graphics software tool from Fortnite creator Epic Games. Hobbs believes the flexibility offered by Unreal will be the key to drawing fashion leaders’ attention to the limitations of contemporary design.
“Those experiences, those metaverses, that are being built using Unreal or the dream of being built, are the ones that I think you’re going to really appreciate with fashion brands,” Hobbs said. “You can use the power of Unreal to show material physics in a different way. [Before]There was no movement in the objects, they just stuck to the avatar, and that was it.”
BNV World allows visitors to showcase fashion pieces from a wide range of designers in ultra-realistic 3D and provides a unique marketplace for BNV products with a platform. There will also be virtual spaces and stages designed for events and digital fashion collection launches. Certain platform areas will be token-gated, offering “various levels of accessibility and wearability” to NFT holders.
Hobbs believes that creating a virtual space intended first and foremost to meet the visual needs of digital fashion will allow creators to “invent more and experiment with how fashion is seen and interpreted in the metaverse.”
Luxury fashion brands have begun experimenting with a presence in the metaverse, though the fruits of those efforts have yet to materialize.
