Managing individuals struggling with stress, anxiety, depression and other mental health concerns can be a difficult balancing act. Your role is to manage performance and bring out the best in your workforce, but to do this you often need to express concern and support when employees are struggling emotionally. Managers are often uncomfortable with this role and may lack the necessary “emotional management” skills. This course provides insights and strategies to help employees express their concerns and create supportive collaboration in a managerial role.
The session also identifies common mistakes managers make when responding to employees under stress and discusses communication skills that express support and communicate positive optimism. Participants were given information on how to refer employees to the Employee Assistance Program.
