The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets have enjoyed the comfort of their last two games at home, but now they must go on the road. They will face the UCF Knights at FBC Mortgage Stadium on Saturday night at 4 p.m. UCF is struggling after a win as the Yellow Jackets come in off a loss.
Losing is never fun, and it’s even less fun to lose by 42 to nothing, which was the final point scored by Georgia Tech against the Ole Miss Rebels last week. Georgia Tech was in a tough spot at the half, with the score already sitting at 21. QB Jeff Sims had a memorable game, but not the way he wants to be remembered, passing for just 161 yards on 32 attempts.
Meanwhile, UCF ran circles around the Florida Atlantic Owls last week, and the extra yardage (653 yards vs. 296 yards) paid off. Everything went UCF’s way against Florida Atlantic as they cruised to a 40-14 victory. The score was close in the game, but in the second half, the Cavaliers were outscored by 24 points. QB John Rhys Plumlee had a stellar game for UCF as he passed for one TD and 335 yards on 33 attempts in addition to rushing for two TDs and 121 yards.
Yellow jackets are obvious dogs, so they hope that it is the size of the fight that determines this. The team is 0-2 ATS when they are expected to lose, so those playing the spread shouldn’t expect too much for them.
Georgia Tech is now 1-2 while UCF sits at a mirror-image 2-1. Two defensive numbers to consider before the game begins: Georgia Tech enters the game boasting the 29th most sacks in the nation through eight hours. As for UCF, they enter the contest averaging just 121.7 passing yards per game, good for seventh in the nation.
