The hardest part about business trips is that you still (usually) have to work. It’s fun to go somewhere new, see the sights, and have some fun food and drinks on the company’s dime, but ultimately you have a job to do, and that should take priority.
This is the case for the Green Bay Packers, because they will fly to London for the first time for a game on Thursday evening. For these players, spending a few days sightseeing, nibbling on fish and chips, or visiting the Tower of London or Big Ben would be great fun. But their time is necessarily limited, and the New York Giants are waiting, forcing the team to focus on preparing for the game instead of spending significant time going out and exploring the area.
Traveling fans are a different story as their efforts may be limited to the three or so hours of game time on Sunday afternoons. Expect to see plenty of green and gold around London over the next few days as Packers fans take over the city from now until the weekend.
(Personally, if I were in London on the Friday evening before this game, I would try to get tickets to the women’s soccer game between the USWNT and England.)
It should still be a fun experience for the Packers players and coaches, but they’ll have to save most of their tourist experiences for another time.

The good news for Rodgers is that he has the ability to move to London in the off-season if he wants to, especially after signing his massive new contract. It’s not hard to understand wanting to explore the environment and culture, but priority #1 should still be to get your work done.

Meanwhile, Rodgers will continue to ponder his long-term future for the next several months, but the progress of rookie receivers Romeo Dobbs and Christian Watson will play into it, at least in part.

Regardless of any calls for change outside the locker room, OC Adam Stenavich said Jenkins will remain at right tackle — at least for now. The team is at least looking at alternative options, but they aren’t rocking the line just yet.

Of course, the run defense is a different story, and in three games comes the NFL’s leading rusher. The issues stemmed from everything from bad angles to missed techniques to poor rim placement, and all of those things should be better on Sunday.
