The Bulls and BMO announce the 2022-23 regular season and the third year of BMO’s Black-Owned Business Initiative at Just Don’s in Fulton Market.

In partnership with BMO, the Bulls launched the third season of the BMO Black Owned Business campaign – an initiative focused on raising awareness of Black-owned businesses in Chicago and highlighting Black entrepreneurs who are making a positive difference in the community.

As part of the initiative, the Bulls will highlight one in-game business each month, on social media and gameday television broadcasts each season, detailing the story and inspiration behind each business in the words of the owner.

On October 5, the Bulls and BMO hosted a presentation event at Just Don, a retail and community space owned by Bulls Creative Strategy and Design Advisor Don C., to celebrate the 2021-22 Black-Owned Businesses and showcase the selections for the 2022-23 season from Bulls players and both Bulls and Contact BMO representatives.

The night kicked off with Don See, Bulls Vice President of Community Engagement Adrian Scherenzel-Curry and President BMO Wealth Management US Darrel Hackett. Highlights of the event include two panel discussions – one with prominent business owners this season led by Bulls Community Relations Director Erica Bauer and the other with Bulls players Patrick Williams, Alex Caruso, Javante Green, Derrick Jones Jr. and Dalen Terry by Don C.

Guests enjoyed food from the fine dining restaurant and bar – one of the team’s 2021-22 black businesses, a variety of beers from Funkytown Brewery, and prizes from each of the 2022-23 businesses to win, and jerseys from Bulls players and legends.

The initiative, launched in 2020, reflects the Bulls’ commitment to community investment, one of the four pillars of its community violence prevention strategy, and a commitment to empowering black-owned businesses, nonprofits and black civic leaders.
