Salt Lake City – The Utah Tech Trailblazers suffered their fourth straight loss in a road blowout against the Northern Iowa Panthers.
The Panthers host the Blazers on Saturday, Oct. 15 at the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
Northern Iowa defeated Utah Tech 41-14.

Aside from a second quarter score and a late touchdown, the Panthers dominated the Trailblazers throughout the contest.
With 5:22 left in the first half and a 20-0 lead, the Blazers got their first points of the game on a pass from Bonnie Abbott to Joey Hobert. The score cut Northern Iowa’s lead to two points.

However, the Panthers went into the locker room with a 34-7 halftime lead before the second quarter.
The Panthers added another touchdown before the final quarter began.
In the fourth quarter, Abbott threw his second touchdown pass of the afternoon and Utah Tech’s final score of the game to Ricky Johnson.

The Panthers would go on to win 41-14.
Utah Tech gained 548 yards to 249 yards in total yards from the outside.
Abbott finished the game 12/22 passing for 162 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. Hobert had seven catches for 74 yards and a touchdown. Johnson hauled in three receptions for 53 yards and a touchdown.
Panthers quarterback Theo Day was 13/23 passing for 308 yards and three touchdowns. Sam Schnee led the Panthers with five receptions for 143 yards. Northern Iowa’s Dom Williams had 12 carries for 92 yards and a touchdown.
With the loss, the Trailblazers fall to a 1-5 record on the road, including 0-4 this season.
Utah Tech’s next game is Saturday, October 22nd at 6pm (MDT) against the Sam Houston Bearcats. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+. The Bearcats are 2-2 this season pending the outcome of their Week 6 game against Eastern Kentucky on Oct. 15.
