Showing the good, the bad and the ugly, ‘View of the Week’ It’s a regular series to wrap up the most talked about clothes of the past seven days.
Oscar-winning actress Nicole Kidman captured the internet’s attention this week with a new shoot in Perfect magazine.
Kidman, who turns 55 this summer, flaunts her impossibly sculpted triceps on the magazine’s cover — red hair tumbling over one shoulder and a section clearly cut across her chin. Not a power suit or black turtleneck in sight: Kidman is wearing pieces from fashion brand Diesel’s Fall-Winter 2022 collection, which debuted at Milan Fashion Week this February — a highly praised array of Y2K-inspired trucker hats, denim trench coats. And a boozy belted-dress Kidman wears.

All this to celebrate the new appreciation bestowed upon her by the magazine. Named an “absolute icon” — one of 23 new awards in an attempt to highlight industry talent across the board — Kidman has been praised for her relentless curiosity and versatility.
“I make my decisions the way a teenager would,” she said in an interview with Zee. “Not playing the consequences. I want to do it, I try. It has its ups and downs. It makes the job I’m in really stressful.”

Deeply tied to narrow standards of beauty, fashion is often considered a youth game – expectations of what to wear increase the older you get. But Kidman says for her, having fun takes priority over getting fit. “Like I always say, ‘I do what I want to do,'” she told Perfect. “That’s why I click with photographers, because I’m not here to imprint myself on you, but rather for you to remind yourself of me and so we can grow together. Let’s play!”
