| Laura Graessler, Ph.D., assistant professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Practice in the UAMS College of Pharmacy, is inducted into this year’s class. Arkansas businessThe New Influencers: 20 In Their 20s, a list of talented young leaders in the Arkansas business and nonprofit communities.
Honorees must be under 30 years of age as of September. They must influence their organization or community and demonstrate potential as a business or political leader. Each class is selected by an internal committee that reviews more than 300 candidates based on accomplishments, responsibilities and people ahead of their time.
Gressler was recognized in this year’s class as part of a special supplement to the September 12 issue. Arkansas business.
“Dr. Gressler is a promising young faculty member,” said College of Pharmacy Dean Cindy Stowe, Ph.D., who is working hard to improve healthcare decision-making to advance patient outcomes and educate the next generation of pharmacists and scientists.
In her work with the College of Pharmacy, Graessler works with the US Food and Drug Administration and the Center for Mental Health Care and Outcomes Research with the Center for Devices and Radiological Health at the US Veterans Administration. She has also contributed to research projects at the US Defense and National Health Council. Her research interests include medical device oversight and postmarketing evaluation, opioid use among vulnerable populations, and contraceptive evaluation among active duty servicewomen. She is a reviewer for seven medical journals.
“I am thrilled to be selected as one of this year’s honorees,” Gressler said. “I hope this honor highlights the instrumental role that UAMS College of Pharmacy faculty and researchers play in advancing patient care and clinical evaluation. I plan to continue my research at the College by working to overcome research limitations and simultaneously improve ways to inform meaningful patient, clinical, and regulatory decision-making.”
Graessler volunteers at Hendricks College Career Services in Conway and the Museum of Discovery’s STEM for Girls program to expose young women to the critical roles they have in the health care system and public health.
Gressler She received her Bachelor of Arts in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Hendricks College in 2015 and her Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Evaluation and Policy from UAMS in 2017. She received her doctorate in pharmaceutical health services research from the University of Maryland, Baltimore. 2021. She joined the UAMS College of Pharmacy in July 2021 as an assistant professor.
