HATTIESBURG, Miss. (WDAM) – It’s homecoming weekend for Southern Miss (WDAM) and it’s not only an exciting time for football fans, but it’s also an exciting time for Hub City hotels and restaurants looking for some extra business from all the visitors in town.

“It’s been great for the Midtown area, especially at Fuzzy’s,” said Justin Harris, co-owner of Fuzzy’s Taco Shot. “I haven’t had a chance to look up and see everything, but I know here, since we’ve been open, it’s been packed.”

Employees at Hotel Indigo say they’re fully booked for Homecoming, while folks at both Fuzzy’s Taco Shop and Chicken Salad Chick say Homecoming has increased business at those restaurants.

“We’ve been planning this weekend for a while and we’re completely sold out,” said Caitlin Brumfield, front desk clerk at Hotel Indigo.

Harris said homecoming boosts business by 50 percent over regular home game days.

Chicken Salad Chick cashier Danny Buchanan said the restaurant has been cooking.

“It’s a little busy for a Saturday, especially our lunch rush, especially before the parade,” Buchanan said.
