  • Aaron Rodgers appears on Bill Maher’s “Club Random” podcast, scheduled to launch on September 11th.
  • In retrospect, Rogers criticized the state of California for its policies to prevent Covid-19 and its impact on business.
  • ‘State is going to lose, but I’m going to hang on,’ Rogers told Mahr.

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is again slamming Covid-19 laws — this time on claims they’ve destroyed small businesses in his hometown.

In Bill Maher’s “Club Random” podcast, Rogers asked the state of California for stricter social distancing and mask guidelines in 2020 and 2021, according to a preview of the episode shared by SFGate ahead of Sunday’s premiere.

Rogers told Maher that he believes “the state will be shaken” and chastised California officials for their measures to prevent the spread of the virus.

“I grew up in a small town, very small business in Chico, California, but all the small businesses? They’re gone,” Rogers said on the podcast.

An estimated 40,000 small businesses in California closed in September 2020, more than any other state since the pandemic began, according to a report published by Yale. At the time, about half of these companies were permanently closed, the report said.

On the podcast, Rogers challenges Governor Gavin Newsom on his AB 2098 bill, which would make it a felony for a physician or surgeon to spread false or misleading information.

Rogers once said, “I don’t believe the government should have any control over what we do with our bodies.”

Rodgers’ comments come after the NFL player expressed similar sentiments on the “Joe Rogan Experience” podcast in August.

Rogers has been the subject of controversy for refusing to take the Covid-19 vaccine. In the year During an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show in 2021, he accused the NFL of trying to shame players into getting vaccinated for their season.

“The great MLK said you have a moral obligation to oppose unjust laws and laws that make no sense,” Rogers said.
