THere’s the undeniably good thing about wide leg pants. Classic chic and understated, a good pair will always make you feel good together. The key is finding the right one for your style and body shape. If you’re petite, a stack or angled heel will add length to your legs and save your heels from hitting the ground. Cuban-heel cowhide boots are comfortable under a wide cut for added height. Or look for a cropped or ankle style that complements short heights as well as full length. Alternatively, a pair is prepared – any dry eraser can take the required height. But keep in mind that adding a few inches of fabric to a trainer, slip-on knit (as seen in the row) will add bulk, so switching isn’t always necessary.

If you’re tall, this season’s flat ballet pumps or loafers are the perfect finishing touch. Be bold and play with color, Kos’ orange red pair (1, below) will brighten your day. Wear them now with a crisp white shirt and later in the season with a black roll. Whistles’ pale lime style (£119) with matching blazer (£149) and Sandro’s sunshine yellow (10) is a conversation starter. Annie Bing’s black pair (£215) and Me and M’s belted white ones, with a super swish factor (£225), are both classics you’ll wear often. While it’s still very warm, keep things simple and go with another fall trend – a white dress. Take a style cue from Louis Vuitton and add a shirt and blouse and complete the look with an oversized jacket. For evening glamour, add a silk blouse or camisole and accessorise with a belt and gold jewellery. Add statement earrings to quickly create a cocktail-worthy outfit.
