Alabama softball blanks Georgia Tech in Saturday’s doubleheader

Tuscaloosa, Ala – Alabama softball posted a pair of shutouts against Georgia Tech on Saturday afternoon at Rhoads Stadium with 1-0 and 4-0 wins over the Yellow Jackets.

Alabama won a low-scoring game one, first with a solo home run from Ali Shipman An adequate display in a 1-0 win. Lauren Eisman went the distance in the circle, throwing a shutout that allowed just two hits, including the potential tying run at third in the top of the seventh.

The Crimson Tide started its scoring in game two with a strong RBI single. Heavilin River In the second inning, he hit a shot off the right field wall. Later with Larissa Prewitt at third, the freshman scored on an RBI groundout to make it 2-0. Freshman Abby Duchscherer tacked on another run in the third with an RBI down the left field line before scoring in the next at-bat on a sac fly from Shipman.
