Brooklyn is home to the first black residency hacker for young black tech entrepreneurs.
Founded by two Brooklyn natives, brothers Rust And River fieldsRHouse is an intentional engineer, founder and creator space that brings together a community of black technologists interested in launching Web3 startups.
According to Bronx News 12, the duo wanted to tackle the racial barriers and lack of diversity in tech cities like San Francisco with their own hacker house.

The ambitious spirit of the house draws on the Field brothers’ obsession with combining diverse talents, which is exciting to connect, collaborate and create the future through technology.
“Black entrepreneurs face unique challenges when they go to start companies,” Rustai, who graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in neuroscience, told the news outlet.
“We want to create a space and experience for them to work together and build deep and authentic relationships to harness the power of collaboration and community.”
This summer, RHouse launched their first four-week residency program in a brownstone in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn. From July 11 to August 5, 13 builders, inventors and designers had the opportunity to immerse themselves in workshops, panel discussions, fireside chats, meet-and-greets and tours and networking events. They got work space, merchandise, and even media exposure.

The pilot program culminated in a final pitch competition where the top winners received a $25,000 equity investment in the company.
