The Council of Fashion Designers of America has announced the nominees and awards for the annual CFDA Awards, including Kathryn Holstein LeKite, Christopher John Rogers, Gabriella Hearst, Laquan Smith and Peter Doe for American Womenswear Designer of the Year. Christopher John Rogers won last year’s trophy. This year’s winners will be announced at the organization’s Nov. 7 event, which will mark CFDA’s 60th anniversary.
Designer of the Year nominees are Bach My, Carly Marks for Toys & Dolls, Colm Dillane for KidSuper, Elena Velez and Lauren Harwell Godfrey for Harwell Godfrey. The nominees for American Menswear Designer of the Year are Emily Bode Aujla for Bode, Jeremy Lorenzo for Fear of God, Mike Amiri for Amiri, Thom Browne for Thom Browne New York and Willy Chavarria. CFDA’s Associate Designer of the Year nominees are brother Velis and Aurora James, founders of 15 Percent Pledge, Brandon Blackwood and Raul Lopez of Luar, Coach creative director Stuart Vevers and designer Telfar Clemens of Telfar.
“This year’s nominees reflect the renewed excitement around American fashion created by the designers who are shaping the future of our industry,” said CFDA CEO Steven Kolb.
The CFDA will also honor the late Virgil Abloh with its Board of Trustees Award and name Lenny Kravitz its 2022 Icon of Fashion. Law Roach receives the organization’s first-ever Stylist Award.
