ATLANTA – Through one quarter, No. 4 Clemson and Georgia Tech appear tied for the lowest-scoring matchup this time last year. The Tigers and Yellow Jackets are scoreless with each offense managing just two first downs.
The game got off to a good start when Georgia Tech quarterback Jeff Sims was hit on the first play of the game, resulting in an injured pass duck that landed on Andrew Mukuba’s lap. But Clemson couldn’t capitalize and went three-and-out.
In the year All eyes were on Tigers quarterback DJ Yougalelei after last season in 2021, and his inconsistency seems to have spilled over into this year. The former five-star prospect lost the Tigers’ second possession of the game and managed just 25 yards passing. Hot sensation Cade Klubnik is waiting in the wings if Yougalley continues to struggle, and it will be interesting to see if coach Dabo Swinney moves to him tonight.
