French Polynesia – which includes the desirable islands of Tahiti and Bora Bora – is known for its beautiful landscapes, great beaches and great resorts. However, it’s hard to find an open award at a reasonable price, especially in premium cabins.

But if you act fast, you can get to the bucket list destination of French Polynesia in style. Currently, there is great award space on Air Tahiti’s business class, including nonstop flights from Los Angeles and Seattle. This award site was originally reported by AwardWallet.

Let’s take a look at open award space and how to book with points and miles.

The best offer is from Seattle. I understand that many flights have up to four business class award seats.

Although I couldn’t find a place for more than two people at a time, I had a good supply from Los Angeles.

There is also a great award space from San Francisco.

Of course, you can connect any additional miles to these flights if you book with the Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan or American Airlines AAdvantage. For example, you can book this itinerary from Denver International Airport (DEN) to Tahiti for the same 60,000 Alaska miles, and the DEN to PPT leg is domestic first class on Alaska.

How to order

The two best ways to book these seats are through the Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan and American Airlines AAdvantage.

The Alaska Mileage Plan charges 60,000 miles for a one-way business class flight from the United States to Tahiti for Air Tahiti Nui. Alaska allows free stops on their one-way award tickets, so if you want to visit Australia or the South Pacific, you can make Tahiti your stopover.

Another option is to book through American Airlines’ AAdvantage program. American Advantage charges 80,000 miles for a one-way business class flight on Air Tahiti Nui.

Earning miles for this award ticket

Alaska miles are relatively difficult to earn because they are non-transferable from programs like American Express Membership Rewards or Chase Ultimate Rewards.

One of the best ways to earn Alaska miles is by Alaska Airlines Visa® Business Card. This card is offering a generous welcome bonus of 70,000 Alaska miles after you spend $4,000 in the first 90 days of account opening.

Meanwhile, AAdvantage miles are relatively easy to earn due to the number of credit cards they offer. There are four Citi American Airlines credit cards with different sign-up bonuses and earning structures.

You can also transfer Bilt Rewards to AAdvantage at a 1:1 transfer ratio.

Increase your purchase

Don’t forget to use a credit card that earns extra points on airline purchases to pay taxes and fees. This includes cards Platinum Card® from American Express (5x on flights booked directly with airlines or American Express Travel) Chase Sapphire Reserve, American Express® Gold Card, Citi Premier® Card and the Chase Sapphire Preferred Card (2x on all travel purchases). See this guide for more information on maximizing aircraft purchases.

at last

It’s incredibly rare to see an extended business class award to Tahiti, so now might be the perfect time to lock in a once-in-a-lifetime destination trip. Remember, you’ll get the best deals with the Alaska Mileage Plan or American AAdvantage miles.
