With New York Fashion Week coming to an end, the newest fall fashion trends have just dropped.

Although the fashion on campus may be different from what is considered trendy on the patio, it has its own major pieces and styles.

“This is a school of 50,000 people, so you see a lot of different styles on campus,” says Anna Trevor, editor-in-chief of Vim magazine. “That’s what I love most about fashion…everyone has (their) uniqueness. Style.”

MSU, Traver said, is generally a very modern campus

As the weather gets colder, warmer clothes will soon be leaving student closets.

“We’re trying to find a way to transition customers from summer wear to fall wear, and denim is really what we’re looking at,” said Shira Solomon, a fashion industry executive.

Big, bulky jackets, especially in plaid or pattern, will stay in style this year, Traver said.

Journalism sophomore Lexi Roberts agrees that flannel and jeans will be popular this fall.

“I think the ’90s trend is going to continue, so I think we’re going to see a lot of crop sweaters with mom jeans,” said Trevor, “The big thing I’ve noticed coming back is tall boots.”

These trends were gaining popularity during the last cold weather but now their popularity is increasing.

“I think we’re going to start seeing a lot more cargo pants,” psychology sophomore Ella Wagner said. “Maybe baggy jeans with a tight long sleeve top. I feel like a lot of people base their trends off of Hailey Bieber and she wears them all the time.

Generally, on-campus fashion takes a different approach compared to off-campus fashion, mostly for convenience.

Wagner said people like to take the “fun route.” Others wore jeans and neutral-colored cozy sweaters to look put together, she said.

However, Roberts says the real trend this season is what you feel good about.

“Take a risk, savor it,” Roberts said: “Look good, feel good — that’s a big thing.”
