Football, volleyball game day experience elements have been announced

BLACKSBURG – As the fall sports season approaches, the Virginia Tech Athletic Department announced Friday, Aug. 19, the different game day experiences fans can expect when attending men’s soccer, women’s soccer and volleyball events this season.

Access to Thompson Field (Women’s and Men’s Soccer)
Gates at Thompson Field open 60 minutes prior to kickoff on game days. Thompson Field is located at 867 Washington St. SW.

CASSELL COLISEUM ACCESS (volleyball)
Doors at Kassel Coliseum open 60 minutes before first serve on game days. Cassell Coliseum is located at 675 Washington Street SW. Entrance will be on the west side of Kassel.

Tickets

Admission to Virginia Tech’s regular season men’s soccer, women’s soccer and volleyball games does not require a ticket to enter the venue.

Clear bag policy

Virginia Tech’s open bag policy remains in place for women’s soccer, men’s soccer and volleyball home events. This policy helps provide a safe environment for spectators and expedites the entry of fans into the venue.

Allowed bags are limited to:

  • Clear plastic, vinyl or PVC. and bags no larger than 12” x 6” x 12”
  • One gallon clear plastic freezer bag (Ziplock bag or similar)
  • A small clutch bag about the size of a hand, with or without a handle or strap and no larger than 4.5” x 6.5”

The concert will stop without money

All discount sales are cashless at all locations, requiring a debit or credit card for purchase. This reduces waiting time and eliminates cash transactions and handling. Fans who do not have access to a debit or credit card should consider purchasing a prepaid card at Kroger before the game.

Additionally, similar to previous years, concessions will include menu options at fan-friendly prices. It’s alcohol not at allServed in men’s soccer, women’s soccer or volleyball.

car park

Fans are encouraged to park in Lot 1 (Coliseum West Lot) near Lane Stadium and Thompson Field or Lot 2 (Stadium Lot) near Lane Stadium. However, patrons parking in these public spaces between the hours of 7 am and 10 pm Monday through Friday must pay to park using the University’s Parkmobile platform. Theme games, in-place promotions and gifts

Across all of our Fall Olympic sports, fans can expect a number of themed games this season. Additionally, fans can enjoy live MC entertainment at select home games this season.

Men’s football

  • Friday, September 16 vs Wake Forest 7:30 PM – Party on the Pitch: Come out for a family-friendly doubleheader at Thompson Field! Women’s soccer kicks off at 5 p.m., followed by men’s soccer at 7:30 p.m.
  • Friday, October 14 vs Pitt at 5:00pm – Men’s Soccer Homecoming Weekend: Fans who arrive early will receive a Men’s Soccer gift while supplies last!
  • Friday, October 28 vs. Duke at 6:00 pm – Senior Night: Come out and support the seniors in their last home game!

Women’s football

  • Sunday, August 21 vs. Indiana at 12:00 PM – Welcome home Hokies! Join us for our fall home opener with the Hokies at Thompson Field! The first 200 students in attendance can pick up a free t-shirt.
  • Saturday, October 1 vs. North Carolina at 7:00 PM – Mental Health Awareness Night: Join the Hokies in our efforts to break down stigma and raise awareness around mental health and resources.
  • Thursday, October 13 from Virginia at 8:00 p.m. Homecoming Week Commonwealth Clash: Visit Thompson Field as the Hokies take on in-state rival Virginia!

Volleyball

  • Friday September 16 – Mental Health Awareness Match: Come out and help us break the stigma!
  • Friday, September 30 from Boston College at 6:00 p.m: BIG HOCKEY ENERGY MATCH: Students bring that Big Hockey Energy and get in early for a free t-shirt while supplies last!
  • Friday, October 7 vs NC State at 6:00 pm: Digging Rose! Support our student-athletes as they dig pink to support breast cancer awareness!
  • Friday, October 28 vs UVA at 6:00pm – Commonwealth Clash and Halloween with the Hokies: Come out and trick or treat with the Hokies! Enjoy an evening that includes free candy, a costume contest and face painting. It’s also Senior Night so come early and support the Hokies volleyball seniors!
  • Friday, November 25 vs. Notre Dame at 1:00 PM – Lace Up 4 Childhood Cancer: Help our hockey players fight childhood cancer!
