STEUBENVILLE – Beginning this fall, Trinity Health System will operate its health clinic at Franciscan University of Steubenville.
This new partnership will allow the university to significantly enhance the health services it provides on campus to students, their spouses and their children. In addition, the partnership will allow university employees access to limited Express Care services on campus.
The health clinic at Barron’s Health and Wellness Center is staffed 40 hours a week by a nurse practitioner and certified medical assistants, with a physician on campus at least once a week. The clinic offers a wide range of outpatient services, including diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic health conditions, health screenings and vaccinations, and specialist referrals for complex health care needs.
“This new and exciting partnership with Trinity Health System will greatly increase access to health care for our students on campus, answering a need that many students have recently expressed. I am grateful that we are able to provide comprehensive health care for faculty and staff, and I am especially pleased to be partnering with another Catholic institution to make this possible. said Dan Dentino, vice president of student life at the university.
Trinity Health System is part of CommonSpirit Health, a non-profit Catholic health system that seeks to make God’s healing presence known by improving the health of the people it serves.
“This partnership is one way we can bring the two ministries together to better serve our community. We are excited to take this step and offer this service to Franciscan University students, faculty and staff.” James Mirasola, vice president of physician organization at Trinity Health System.
This partnership will allow the university to expand counseling services and build educational programs. The improvements include adding another full-time counselor to better meet students’ mental health needs, as well as education and outreach in nutrition, strength and conditioning, healthy relationships, stress management and other areas.
In the event of a medical emergency, students and other patients are referred to nearby medical facilities such as Trinity Medical Center West or Wharton Medical Center.
