Issey Miyake designer Satoshi Kondo showcased a collection of light and textured silhouettes made from technical fabrics, nodding to the label’s signature approach with futuristic-to-romantic looks on Friday at Paris Fashion Week.

The first scene after the eponymous founder’s death begins with Miyake’s portrait on screens around the room.

Miyake, who died in August at the age of 84, was known for pioneering a new style of textiles – making clothes that held shape but allowed freedom of movement.

Over the years, the label has often been known for showcasing its simplicity by presenting its flawless garments on moving, dancing dancers.

There were dancers on the catwalk show Friday, wearing dresses with intricate artwork that looked like delicate knitwear from a distance, contrasting with the sharp look.

At the end of the show, models dressed in peach-colored clothes came running and jumping into the air as the audience cheered and cheered.

“The final performance is an expression of the way I see people can connect regardless of their gender, skin tone. They all have to be together,” Kondo told Reuters through a translator.

“Every collection I create is a reflection of what I’ve always learned and what my team has learned from Issei-san,” he added.
