Vermont Business Magazine On September 14, Ivy Computer held a groundbreaking ceremony to celebrate the construction of an anticipated new 22,000-square-foot office building at their current campus. Representatives from several state agencies, Vermont Department of Economic Development Commissioner Joan Goldstein and Vermont Economic Development Corporation Executive Director Jamie Stewart attended the event.
In the year Founded in 1986, Ivy Computers is a manufacturer of specialized software tools for the waste transportation industry, primarily a business management product (waste flow) and a financial processing platform (waste billing). Ivy’s continued strong growth has allowed the company to steadily increase hiring, and the increase in staff indicates the need for additional space to accommodate the growth.
Ivy Computer President George Pearce commented, “… the air as a whole is filled with new ideas and dreams for the company, and as you pursue those dreams, the company will continue to grow. This new building is solar-powered, climate-controlled geothermal heating and cooling, and has no fossil fuels. Well lit with lots of natural light.
Participation in the Vermont Employment Growth Initiative (VEGI), coordinated by the Vermont Economic Development Corporation, will allow this project to move forward in the near future than originally envisioned. The VEGI program provides financial assistance to businesses that are approved and meet performance requirements to receive the incentive.
Commissioner Goldstein commented, “Vermont has proven to be a great incubator for technology companies that create meaningful jobs and opportunities in communities across the state. She continued, “With VEGI’s support, Ivy Computer will be able to build and expand its headquarters and add additional employees to take advantage of the need for additional space and capacity to grow its day-to-day operations.
“At Ivy Computer, we are very proud to be a part of the VEGI program, and we are committed to growing our company as part of a positive contribution to the Vermont economy. Our current workforce of 61 is expected to approach 100 employees by 2025, and our new building will increase our productivity,” said Jessica Cook, Ivy Finance and Human Resources Manager.
