Leaders in occupational safety and health launched the Total Worker Health Association

Occupational health and safety leaders from across the US launched the new General worker health society. The Total Worker Health Association is a not-for-profit membership organization formed by individuals and partners for the advancement of worker health, safety, security and productivity. Total Employee Health®

The association serves as a forum and community to promote new and innovative ideas General employee health (TW) Research, training, education, dissemination and real-world solutions. The association hopes to forge a new path for professional and scientific organizations, not to compete with them. The group’s goals are to serve as a place where professionals and students from all disciplines can engage to improve the TWH field and the experience of all employees. The Association engages members from traditional occupational safety and health sectors, government, academia, human resources, public health, public policy, industry and labor groups.
Initiated by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) more than a decade ago, the field of TWH has grown with the potential to improve the safety of more workers around the world. The Society, freed from the constraints of its governmental roots, can boldly innovate, propose promising strategies to advance this new discipline, and gather and inspire people who want to shape the future of TWH.

As the field of human resource development rapidly expands and consolidates, the importance of a place to gather people to help shape our future is increasing.

“Our membership stands on four pillars; “Building, guiding, monitoring and mentoring community,” said Lilliana Tenney, DorPh, assistant professor and associate director of the Center for Health, Work and Environment at the Colorado School of Public Health and the association’s interim president-elect. It’s to give them the tools to lead—all professional associations in new ways with what they traditionally do. People interested in TWH are passionate and motivated to tackle the biggest challenges facing today’s workplaces. The association is a place for rich conversations, building new relationships, and overall growing the TWH field for greater impact. will be.
The association’s leadership, board of directors, and founding members are drawn from leaders from NIOSH, ten NIOSH Centers of Excellence, and leading occupational safety and health professional organizations. The group will hold its inaugural and inaugural meeting at the 3rd International Symposium to Advance TWH in Bethesda, MD, on October 14, 2022.
