NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) – For some businesses, getting money is probably the top priority.

Raising money for Vampire Penguins in North Augusta means sending local kids to college.

It was great to present the first check to Jack and Judy Poole.

“If you want, it was the fulfillment of our dreams while what we set a year ago came true,” he said.

Pooles retired after 35 years in the workforce. They took ownership of the Vampire Penguins in North Augusta a year ago.

Moved to CSRA to conduct this business.

“We’ve got our pension kind of taken care of, so we don’t worry about anything along those lines, so we want to have something that we can continue to give back, and we felt this was the best way to do it,” he said.

The Pools have pledged to donate 100 percent of their profits to create business school scholarships.

“We were looking for something that could generate ongoing scholarship, and we thought a small business would be perfect,” he said.

They donated $25,000 to Aiken Tech in December, but Pulis says this is just the beginning.

“As long as we own this business and we’re profitable, we’re going to continue to put the profits toward scholarships. That’s what the store is for,” Pules said.

Poole says the money can help students pay for tuition and other things like books and transportation.
