LYNCHBURG, Va. (WBJ) – Lynchburg’s Office of Economic Development and Tourism released its 2022 annual report, which showed $1.5 million in business sales in the city.

One business said it changed their business model and helped them survive the pandemic.

“To have a better process in the delivery system, we changed a lot. People now come and eat more. When the epidemic started, wherever they ate, they had to wait for the mask until the food came out. David Kang, general manager of Mizumi Japanese Bistro and Moon Tea in Lynchburg, said that when the epidemic slowed down, sales He will return.

The restaurant generates over $90,000 in monthly sales.

The report shows that tourism has increased by 120%, which is an increase from pre-pandemic sales in 2019.

Donna Velek, a visitor to Lynchburg, said she noticed a lot of people, but most of all, everyone was inviting and friendly.

She said: “There are a lot of people walking, a lot of dog walking, a lot of people going in and out of the restaurant. I’m trying to check out places to eat while I’m here for a few days; Everywhere I go is very friendly.”

Although tourism numbers are on the rise, Kang says it’s all about how you treat your customers and your team.

“I think it’s all about people, how I welcome them or how I manage my staff. How to train them. I think it’s the most important part of running the business,” he said.
