Maryland Department of Health Celebrates 2022 Walk Maryland Day with Walk-to-Work Event for State Employees
Baltimore, MD – The Maryland Department of Health (MDH) today celebrated the 8th annual Walk Maryland Day with walk events planned for employees at the State Center and walks around the state.
MDH Public Health Services Deputy Secretary Dr. Jinlin Chan from 300 W. Preston Street led around 50 civil servants on a community walk.
Maryland Day Walk Walking is recognized as the official state exercise. It’s a day that encourages Marylanders to be active in improving their health and well-being. Across the country, hundreds of individuals are set to walk as “single spouses” in 70 planned events. All events are part. WalktoberMaryland’s third annual, month-long walk promoting fitness, recreation and transportation.

“Walking is an effective form of exercise, recommended as part of a healthy lifestyle, to keep you fit, improve brain function, and reduce your risk of chronic disease,” says the MDH. Public Health Service Deputy Secretary Dr. Jinlin Chan. “When done safely, walking can be incredibly beneficial for staying active, relaxing, connecting with friends, and doing other activities. Just a few minutes a day can make a difference.”
