Lansing, Mich – Flu shots are available at local health departments, doctor’s offices and pharmacies throughout Michigan.
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) urges residents to get a flu shot as soon as possible to protect themselves and others from the flu this season.
Flu viruses and the virus that causes covid circulate at the same time this season. You can get the covid vaccine at the same time as your flu shot.
According to the CDC, people who are more likely to be exposed to the flu are more likely to contract Covid.

CDC changes recommendations
The CDC has changed its recommendations for adults this flu season.
Adults age 65 and older are recommended to get one of the following: a high-dose flu vaccine, a booster flu shot, or a booster flu shot, in addition to the regular dose of flu vaccine.
If none of the recommended vaccines are available, any age-appropriate vaccine should be used.
The flu shot is the best way to reduce the risk of getting the flu this season, health officials say.
During the 2021-2022 flu season, approximately 3.3 million people in Michigan received the flu vaccine. The state has set a goal of vaccinating 4 million Michigan residents for the 2022-2023 flu season.
During the 2019-2020 flu season, there were an estimated 8 to 13 million cases of the flu, 3.7 to 6.1 million flu-related medical visits, and about 170,000 hospitalizations.
