Sophomore sharpshooter Sean Pedula will take over at point guard for Virginia Tech in the upcoming 2022-23 campaign. A native of Edmond, Oklahoma, Pedula is ready to take a break for the Hokies after a solid season. He was one of three Hokies to shoot over 40% last season, connecting on 44.7% of his attempts from long range.
Pedula showed why he’s a reliable threat from beyond the arc, making at least three from downtown four times on the year, and drilling an impressive six triples to cap a season-high 20 points. Florida State was never far from the big stage, leading the Hokies to 19 points in the first round of the NCAA Tournament against Texas.
Ready to take the next step at the top of the key for VT, Pedula has already established himself as one of the most improved players in the ACC as he enters Blacksburg in his second season. And with both his leadership and newly added experience, don’t be surprised to see Pedula do big things for the Hokies.
“I’m more than ready,” Pedula said at the team’s media day earlier this week. “Last year’s storm [Murphy] He’s done a great job of showing me some things I want to improve on and I think I’ve worked with the coaches this offseason … he shows me film.
“Everything I did … well last season, I need to do that more this year.
I know what’s expected of me and this team and I’m ready for it.
Pedula has emphasized in the weight room this season – credit to his work ethic and strength and conditioning coach David Jackson.
“Seeing these NBA point guards and NBA shooting guards, if I want to guard multiple positions, [needed] … to put on two pounds,” Pedula said. “What you’re going to see this year is I’m going to post up a little bit more … putting my focus on the smaller defenders.
