Queen Maxima of the Netherlands visited the Care Community Center in Bastrop on September 8 to hear from local youth about their views and needs on mental health. During her time in Bastrop, Queen was able to not only connect with Bastrop County youth representatives, but also understand the core needs of the community’s youth perspective.

Bastrop County Cares has established the Resilient Bastrop County Initiative – a community partnership that assesses, plans and implements strategies to become a healthy community that supports resilience, mental health and well-being – such as Youth Building Networks for Change and the Hogg Foundation for Mental Health, designed to provide safe and secure spaces for young people to listen to each other and heal. To set up places.

To support local mental health initiatives, the Bastrop County Commissioners Court has signed a proclamation making September 8th Youth Mental Health Day in Bastrop County.

“I am honored to be a co-host for this once-in-a-lifetime event,” said Krystal Grimes, Director of Inclusion and Resiliency at Bastrop County Cares.
