ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) – Some local students had the opportunity to launch their own startups at the Rochester Kids Business Fair.

On Saturday, about 20 students gathered outside the gates of Daniel Christian Academy and set up booths around the parking lot.

The students attend public, private and home schools all in the southeast Minnesota area.

In each booth, students were selling their own creations. Students sold baked goods, jewelry, beauty products, and even comic books.

For months, the kids worked on developing their brand, creating their product and building a marketing strategy, and Saturday was the big day to display and sell their wares.

“Even at a young age, they can pitch and sell something, and they can grow from nothing to something. You never know what’s going to happen, but more than that, they’re building character development and skills that will serve them wherever they go in life,” said Brittany Major-Elecchi, organizer of the Rochester Children’s Fair.

To prepare for the fair, some students took classes through a local business club to learn more about business. The next Rochester Kids Business Fair is next spring where students will focus on education.
