Head coach Brent Pr
Opening statement:
“I can’t say enough but thank you to our fans. I can’t say it was amazing, I can’t say I wasn’t necessarily surprised, but it was a great feeling in that stadium at 11 o’clock. Our players appreciate it. It was a great atmosphere. There’s definitely a huge build-up to Thursday night, I’m sure.” I’m sure Lane will be electric and we’re looking forward to that. It’s nice and early, it’s a nationally televised game, we’ll have a lot of expectations and we want to show the area and put our best foot forward.
On his thoughts heading into this week’s game against West Virginia:
“We’re going to be 1-0. That’s the approach we use at home and away. We definitely have the advantage of being at home, with our fans, being in our environment, having our families and everybody packing. And supporting each other. It’s an advantage for us to enjoy these guys.
Linebackers Dax Holyfield
On what feels like an improvement for him this season:
“I’ve been trying to take my practice into the game. That’s where I feel like I’ve gotten better and I’m trying not to overcomplicate things. What I do in practice is make it game day. That mindset and trusting my practices translates into every game. Then just a lot of film study. Just getting comfortable with the defense. Ultimately. It seems like it’s clicking on all cylinders. So we’re trying to continue to do that. Week in, week out.”
What his fan base means to him:
“I’m very happy with the turnout. I’m very proud of our fans. It means a lot to us players, especially to me. Look up at the student section and see him rocking with us. It was 11 o “I know the clock game is tough for a lot of fans.”
Tight end Nick Gallo
If the offense feels more geared toward the passing game than last year:
“I think in this offense, we look to the tight ends a little bit more. Both on first downs and third downs. I’d say that’s the main difference.”
How he improved this season with a new coaching staff:
“I think we did a good job in the finals. We have a lot of seniors with experience and leadership. I think we’re just going to take that experience and go out there with more confidence.”
