Fashion week isn’t fashion week without a parade of fabulous costumes on the streets of London. While things have been dialed back considerably in honor of Queen Elizabeth II’s death, that doesn’t mean people aren’t dressing up.
Amidst so many amazing and unique looks – modesty forbids sharing the most unusual here, but they risk being unnecessarily chilling – even with self-imposed censorship given the circumstances, a few outfits really stand out.
Scroll through the gallery above to see more street style from London Fashion Week.
One look was a hijabi in gray, wide-leg pants, an oversized blazer, and a flowing, patterned shirt dress. In different shades of grey, she looks stunningly beautiful, and shows that you don’t have to show your skin to be fashionable.
At Halpern’s show, a woman was seen wearing a Qasimi, founded by the late Sheikh Khalid bin Sultan Al Qasimi of Sharjah.
She wore a Don’t Shoot T-shirt, a symbol of the Lebanon war, with a durag and a black pencil skirt. The t-shirt has been released several times to raise funds for children in Palestine and more recently in Lebanon.
While the Middle East is all about glamor and high heels, on the contrary, London style is the opposite. Cleverly it’s about looking mismatched and mixing high with low.
This season, no color seems to be off limits, with three different looks seen in neon yellow, while hot bubblegum pink has made several appearances as an oversized dress, an oversized jumper, a skirt under a red coat and a checked shirt.
Royal blue on Molly Goddard as an oversized sack dress, a tank top over a pale yellow shirt, and not one, but three guys all wearing a denim cut-off jacket.
There were subtle nods to the late Queen Elizabeth II – the beloved Union Jack was painted on the back of jean jackets, while other rich flowers were draped over white denim boots, a man wore what looked like a tight on his head and a woman even came with a matching toddler.
However, the great thing about fashion week is that anything really goes. The couple was spotted outside Halpern’s show wearing wedding dresses and the groom’s clothes, and it was speculated that they were part of the runway show.
It took us all a while to realize that they were just married and taking their wedding photos. Long live fashion!
