In the postgame press conference after Clemson beat Louisiana Tech 48-20 on Saturday night in Death Valley, head coach Dabo Swinney was asked how confident the Tigers’ injured players are heading into next Saturday’s game at Wake Forest.
“I don’t know, we’ll see,” he said. “I feel good about some of them. Maybe there will be a few of them by game time, I don’t know. But they will be close.
“No one has ever had a serious long-term injury that caused them to miss a lot of time,” Sweeney added. “Just like some normal football stuff.”
Among the players who did not play in Saturday night’s game were defensive tackles Tyler Davis and Trey Williams, defensive end Xavier Thomas and cornerback Nate Wiggins.
“Trey, he’s nursing his knee a little bit,” Swinney said. “He was a little sore, so we decided to hold him. I think he’ll be ready to go.”
“Tyler probably could have played tonight, so hopefully we can get him rolling. We’ll see where the XT is. Nate had a little hip flexor. So just some football stuff. Nothing long-term or anything like that. Hopefully we can get some of these guys back to full strength.
