Karen Knowlton’s research centers on motivations for change at work. Her primary focus is on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) topics, including what motivates marginalized team members to succeed in the workplace, how multiple team members can be effective partners, and how the relationships and relationships that structure autonomous work vary. It affects the identity, reputation and outcomes of those from marginalized groups. She also examines the micro-factors of organizational and institutional change. Knowlton’s research has won numerous grants and awards and has been published in leading management journals. Academy of Management Journal. She has taught management seminars at the Wharton School and served as a Distinguished Teaching Fellow at the Center for Teaching and Learning at the University of Pennsylvania. Prior to her academic career, she worked as a mechanical design engineer for Nike. Knowlton earned her PhD in organizational behavior from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, and her MBA and BS in mechanical engineering from Washington University in St. Louis.

Jong Myong Lim is a postdoctoral researcher in the Operations and Management Science Group at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth. His research is at the intersection of health care operations management and health economics. Lim’s work focuses on promoting and improving the efficiency and quality of healthcare systems by addressing key operational challenges including capacity management, incentive misalignment and patient access to care. He was awarded first place in the 2021 MSOM Student Paper Competition and second place in the 2022 POMS Healthcare Operations Management Best Paper Competition. Before working in academia, Lim worked as a business analyst at Mount Sinai Health System in New York City. He holds a BA in Economics and an MPA in Health Policy and Management from New York University, a BA in Economics from the University of Texas at Austin, and a PhD in Management Science and Economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
