JACKSON, Miss. (WDAM) – Two companies with ties to the timber industry are spending $8.14 million to establish operations in Mississippi.
Blower Company of New York and Killeen Dryer Systems and Components announced that they will form a joint venture and take over the Richardson molding facility in Philadelphia.
The new joint venture, New York will be known as Blower/KDS. It is expected to create 60 “direct” jobs. The companies are currently in the process of renovating the facility’s interior and exterior and refurbishing the installation equipment.
The two companies manufacture batch and continuous wood drying kilns, wood-waste thermal plants and industrial air movement products.
According to a release from the Mississippi Development Authority, New York Blower/KDS chose Mississippi as the location for its new Southeast operations because of several sawmills that have recently announced new locations or expansions in the state.
The Mississippi Development Authority is working with the City of Philadelphia, Neshoba County and the Tennessee Valley Authority to assist with construction improvements.
“When established companies like New York’s Blair and KDS choose to locate in Mississippi, it shows their confidence in our transportation system, our workforce and our quality of life,” said MDA Deputy Executive Director Laura Hipp.
“MDA is pleased to support this project as it will help create a more vibrant community through significant investment and the creation of dozens of new jobs.”
