After a fun first weekend in the Austin city limits, I’m absolutely wiped. As my body recovers, I find myself looking back at not only amazing shows by huge stars like Conan Gray and up-and-coming artists like Spill Tab, but also amazing fashion statements made by the partner festival. Visitors. Here are a few of our favorites from week one of the festival to help you get fit and inspired in preparation for week two.
Kevin, Krystina and Brian
I saw Brian and Kevin go see Carly Ra Jepson perform on stage in Barton Springs. Brian walked confidently in an open, black top and black shorts while Kevin rocked a Korean baseball shirt and black track pants.
“I wanted to shake the kimono,” Brian said. “I think it flows very well.”

“I got this jersey in Korea,” Kevin said. “Normally I think baseball is pretty boring, but we randomly decided to go to an LG Twins game in Seoul and it was incredibly electric.”
Their friend Christina describes her style as streetwear, and simply wants to look “sexy in black.”
As for who the trio were most excited to see — besides Carly Rae Jepson — the answer was unanimous: SZA.

Brett and Bobby
First-time ACL visitors Brett and Bobby seemed to be trying to close the gap between ranks as everyone raced around them, gently following their ears wherever they went. As the couple revealed that they decided to go for a casual and comfortable style in anticipation of the warm weekend, their aesthetic gave me a suitably relaxed vibe.
“For me, I was going to relax. I knew it would be hot today. Also, lighter colors, beachy colors are what I go for,” Brett said.

“I’m going to get comfortable,” Bobby said and laughed.
“This is our first time. We don’t know much about the alignment, we’re here for consciousness,” Brett explained.

I met Megan, Josh and Ashlyn after they volunteered to take a group photo under the ICL flags. Megan was glowing in a beautiful, light green dress, Josh went super cool in a cropped t-shirt and bold prints and prints, Ashley turned heads in a chic black dress and black leather western boots.
“I think I wanted to prioritize comfort, but I would go with a bright pattern,” says Megan.
“I borrowed from my girlfriend’s closet. I thought, ‘When am I going to get an opportunity like this to wear this and be a little crazy,'” Josh explained. “I guess it’s in the vein of Harry Styles, making women’s clothing more accessible to men, which I appreciate.”
“I wanted something simple, casual, comfortable, but fun enough for ACL,” says Ashley.
Ali
Later in the day I met Ali trying to get a good photo under the other ACL flags. Her lavender hair, black stretchy top, flowing turquoise pants and sturdy, black combat boots made her easily stand out from the sea of jean shorts and t-shirts. Although it was difficult to get a photo that she was happy with, she agreed to take one for this article.
“The first time I came to ACL, it was so cold that I couldn’t wear the clothes I had planned for that day. I wanted to wear pants, and my favorite pants for holidays are Thai pants,” she explained. “So after three years, I thought I would pay tribute to Thai clothing from then on.”
Ali, I think we can all agree that you crushed it.
