Former NASCAR Cup champion Bobby Labonte talks about some surprising health news.
In the year Labonte, who won the championship in 2000 driving for Joe Gibbs Racing, said he went to the doctor in 2019 when he wasn’t feeling well. The doctors noticed a spot on his kidney and told him to keep an eye on it.

“A lot of emotions came over me at that point because I was relieved but also like, wow, this is crazy because one-third of patients with this disease don’t make it,” he said. “I’m not usually the type of guy to share and you don’t know much about me, but it didn’t take me long to figure out if we could help someone, just help someone. … There are definitely a lot of cancers that can be treated and that’s if you catch it early, like we did, it We were lucky to be able to take care of it.
Labonte, who works as an analyst for Fox Sports, has returned to competition after being fired.
The NASCAR world is happy to have him.
