PARIS, Oct 1 (Reuters) – Models dressed in mismatched outerwear, loosely tailored skirts and edgy detailing showcased Yoji Yamamoto’s spring summer collection in Paris on Friday, his latest in poetically unstructured designs.

The 79-year-old Japanese designer’s hypnotic voice emanated from the soundtrack as models slowly pulled out his signature color black.

Fabrics range from dresses to knits, ruffles and cutouts even on flats, while oversized hats add dimension to monochromatic graphics.

The unique beauty of the designer does not follow any trend, it is built with floating curtains and complex constructions and closely follows friends in his work.

Front-row guests, including American rapper Tyga, took part in Paris City Hall, where the models presented floaty dresses with irregular wings, lace hems criss-crossed with zippers and a ruffled skirt with a matching jacket under rows of hanging chandeliers. Yamamoto, who is known for playing with gender codes, emphasized the female body in the jackets.

Some of the white and bronze graphics are featured, referencing traditional Japanese calligraphy and baroque artistic prints.
