Food products regulated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration must now meet certain criteria to be classified as “healthy,” following a new rule proposed by the agency on Sept. 28.

And many popular grains, including those you think are healthy, don’t fit under that label.

To be considered “healthy”, products must comply with FDA regulations Nutrition facts label and current Dietary Guidelines for Americansaccording to him advertisement.

The agency used grain as an example to detail the new standards.

For a healthy seal from the FDA, cereal must contain three-quarters of an ounce of whole grains and no more than 1 gram of saturated fat, 230 milligrams of sodium and 2.5 grams of added sugar.
