The hot Missouri sun and remote classes make students sweat their way across campus and can dress to please a low concentration. However, students with unique styles continue to stand out despite these difficult summer conditions. See how students of every age move from the classroom to the library.

Sophomore Madeline Zelade takes great inspiration from street fashion and icons like Kehlani. Her creativity and love for fashion make her an eye-catcher; This includes a top, tailored pants, and her favorite Jordan swimsuit.

“I really like streetwear and I like to dress up some, but I’m not really a girl,” Zelade says.

Freshman Teekeo Conley finds inspiration for his clothing from grunge, Y2K and icons like Steve Lacy or Tyler the Creator. “I usually go for anything that matches my hair color,” Conley said. Conley’s style is constantly evolving to match the mood of his hair, and he appreciates the beauty of a completely coordinated look from scalp to toe.

Freshman Cailey Southard sports her own designs inspired by the world around her while promoting sustainable fashion as a textile and apparel management student. “I bought this shirt at some thrift store, and then I flipped it up,” Southard said. Southard learned to sew in eighth grade as a way to save money on clothes and is currently pursuing a career in fashion.

Senior Ogechi Idika organizes her favorite items, such as pants and tees, to reduce her spending on retail clothing. “I always dressed differently,” Idika said. “So I encourage people to explore different things. He mocked me. I am honored too. So you just have to be confident in who you are. Idika took inspiration from his travels abroad to Italy — the environment, fashion and how Italians move.

Senior Tessa Feeney didn’t know that only one style appealed to her. She takes inspiration from cottagecore, streetwear and women’s fashion. “I definitely feel it [fashion] It is a way of self-expression; It’s a first impression,” Feeney said. Goodwill and retro stores are just a few of the places Fenny finds her unique pieces.

Sophomore Morgan Lauderman is known among her peers for her sophisticated style, finding fashion as an outlet to express herself in a larger environment. “I’m from a small town, I went to a small school, but I felt like I couldn’t be myself,” Louderman said. But when I came to Mizzou’s big campus, I felt like I could really express myself. Louderman is a fan of mixing styles but opts for a “clean girl aesthetic” using minimalism, clean lines and tailored jackets.

These MU fashions will continue to impress around campus, and will only get better as we head into the colder season.
