People are nothing if not resources.

That’s at least the Fall 2022 ready-to-wear line from Marine Serre. It’s Tarzan from the set “Desert Damascus” and Jane meets Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi meets Desert Storm.

“… camera prints were transformed into well-finished, glamorous garments,” Vogue said. “Serre is focused on making sure nothing is rough and ready when you’re giving your second life to unspoiled clothes or livestock.”

There’s nothing like thrifting like taking cheap, old military surplus camis and turning them into thousand dollar statement pieces.

In this case, the “dead stock” Desert Camouflage Uniform (DCU), Universal Camouflage Pattern (UCP) and possibly some funky tan flowers for choice camo were inspired by the Maui conflict.

That’s what the designer seems to be going for, putting together windbreakers, nymph dresses, bucket hats, and a corset, one of the most interesting articles of clothing in the history of patriarchal oppression.

A personal favorite, however, is the cargo pants, which have a variety of cameras for the pockets, and this style asks, “How many pairs of camo pants were damaged in the making of these $1,930 camo pants?” It raises the question.

But I will break down.

The windshield, the collection’s pièce de résistance, comes in at a bargain price of $1,725. Unfortunately, the designer’s site doesn’t indicate whether or not the item is weatherproof or even weatherproof.

Luckily, camo rain jackets are available at Wal-Mart for just $25.

Semper fashion.
