Lubbock, Texas – The Oklahoma volleyball team dropped four sets to defeat Texas Tech 3-1 on Wednesday evening at the United Supermarkets Arena in Lubbock.

The Red Raiders took the match 25-17, 25-23, 22-25, 25-18. Texas Tech led in five of the six major statistical categories, except for digs where the Red Raiders and OU each posted 63.

“Texas Tech was a physical team tonight that nailed everything down the middle,” the head coach said Lindsey Gray-Walton he said. Sets two and three were more of our volleyball production. “The relationship with our midfielders continues to get better with each match.”

OU had another strong start with a 6-1 run, but the Red Raiders battled until the end to tie the game at 12-12. Texas Tech went on a 3-0 run before media timeout and never looked back. After an OU timeout, Davison posted a kill to tie the match 23-23, but the Sooners went up 25-23 shortly after.

The offense caught fire for the Sooners in the third set, where the Sooners took an 8-3 lead. The fourth set was slow at first as the teams went back and forth, but Texas Tech went on a four-point run 13-8 before an OU timeout. The Red Raiders would carry the momentum throughout the set to win the match and the final 25-18.

The Sooners return to McCausland Fieldhouse to host Iowa State for Alumni Weekend at 6pm CT on Saturday. More than 15 of the most accomplished alumni will return to campus to celebrate the weekend, along with those honored during the game. Saturday’s game will serve as Fan Appreciation Day, with admission to the Iowa State game free for all fans because it’s also a football game day in Norman.
