NEW YORK, Oct. 10, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Verizon today announced the launch of two easy-to-use home technologies: Home Sensing and Device Identification. The new home solutions give customers more visibility and an added sense of security to their home – at no extra cost.
As more and more customers expand the capabilities of their home Wi-Fi networks by adding connected devices such as entertainment, energy management and voice-activated smart speakers – to name a few – they can now enjoy new functionality and get more value with added visibility. into the house.
Home awareness
Home Sensing uses WiFi sensing technology to detect motion and report activity in your home via the My Fios app. Patented by Virgin Ventures portfolio company Origin Ventures, the technology enables Fios router models to detect interference with Wi-Fi signals in the home and notify the user of unexpected activity. Verizon and Origin Wireless will continue to work together to enhance the in-home experience with additional features based on this Wi-Fi sensor technology.

Device ID
Verizon also partnered with SAM Seamless Network, another Verizon Ventures portfolio company and provider of cloud-native network security and intelligence services, to offer customers additional peace of mind with device authentication.
With Device ID, customers can monitor their home network for new or previously unknown devices. With greater visibility into the devices connected to their home network, they can manage specific devices on the network, such as custom naming conventions, allowing better control of their home network and connected devices. Device ID is available on eligible Fios Routers for all customers.
