Whittier Tech celebrates National Entrepreneurs Day by honoring students and teachers.

Whittier Regional Vocational Technical High School recognized its students and 50 of their career teachers during National Tradespeople Day last Friday.

National Businessmen’s Day, celebrated annually on the third Friday in September, honors the many hardworking businessmen and women nationwide and the important services they provide.

“Here at Whittier, we understand the importance of working in business in today’s society. “From carpenters to chefs and everything in between, tradespeople help keep our country going,” said Superintendent Maureen Lynch. “Today, we celebrate all of our students working hard to acquire the skills they need for future success and thank our teachers for providing us with these opportunities and sharing their passion for the profession.”

Whittier Tech currently has hundreds of students pursuing different careers, including 31 in Auto Body, 33 in Auto Technology, 48 in Business Technology and Marketing, 55 in CAD Drafting, 87 in Carpentry, 57 in Cosmetology, 73 in Culinary Arts and Hospitality, 55 in Dentistry, 63 in Design. and visual communications; 30 in Early Childhood Care, 116 in Electrical, 39 in Electronics/Robotics, 23 in Engineering, 42 in Health Assisting, 58 in HVAC-R, 15 in Advanced Manufacturing, 18 in Masonry, 57 in Medical Assisting, 34 in Metal Fabrication and 50 in Plumbing and Plumbing and 50 in Heating.

In addition, 306 ninth-graders are currently participating in the Whittier Tech Exploratory Program and will choose a business pathway in January. These ninth graders are the first class to have the opportunity to attend Whittier Tech’s new Marine Technology Career Program.
