University of Maryland Herschel S. Horowitz Center for Health Literacy to Dr. Alice M. The symposium is “Accelerating Oral and General Health through Health Literacy for All”. Friday, September 16 from 10:00 am to 3:30 pm EDT. This symposium will establish Dr. Horowitz’s work and the development of oral health as a focus and direction for further action in the field of health literacy. Speakers will discuss oral health and health literacy research, practice, and policy that have developed over the past 20 years, highlight contributions and needs for Maryland and the region, and integrate oral health and general health as a health literacy and public health issue. The symposium will conclude with a look at future issues and the role of oral health in health literacy and the Herschel S. Horowitz Center for Health Literacy.
This will be a hybrid event on the College Park campus with options to join in person or in person. Please note that the opening (10:00 to 11:30 a.m. EDT) and closing (2:45 to 3:30 p.m. EDT) sessions will only be accessible to virtual audiences. Attendees in person will be provided with lunch and may participate in one of three separate groups in addition to the opening and closing sessions.
