The No. 22 Texas Longhorns hit the road this afternoon to face the Texas Tech Red Raiders at 3:30 pm ET on ESPN. Entering the playoffs, starting quarterback Quinn Ewers was listed as questionable.
Evers suffered a torn SC joint in his shoulder two weeks ago during Texas’ 20-19 loss to Alabama. He was originally slated to be out 4-6 weeks, but the Texas coaching staff indicated he is ahead of schedule when it comes to recovery.
That might be great, but the coach can talk to head coach Steve Sarkisian about keeping opponents on their toes. Sark declined to reveal the redshirt freshman’s status in last Saturday’s game against UTASA, and Evers ultimately sat out the 41-20 victory over the Roadrunners. Sarkisian is playing the same game this week, and Ewers told the media that he will travel with the team to Lubbock and dress, but would not say whether he or backup Hudson would start.
Texas enters the game as a seven-point favorite at DraftKings Sportsbook with a total of 61.
