Whippany, NJ–(Business Wire–World Contraception Day is celebrated around the world as a day that focuses on the importance of family planning and access to birth control. To celebrate this year’s celebration, Bayer is pleased to announce a new support fund that represents additional investments. The Direct Relief program helps expand care models by supporting SafetyNet health clinics for patients seeking family planning services with health disparities and urgent community needs. In addition to the grant fund, Bayer has an ongoing partnership with Direct Aid by donating products to the Safety Net Provider Network. To date, Bayer has supplied thousands of intrauterine devices (IUDs) to nearly 460 clinics across the country, reaching unmet needs.
Each Community Health Award grant cycle focuses on support for safety net clinics operating within a geographic area of the US and is based on a number of criteria; Including the percentage of unintended pregnancies by state, the percentage of contraceptive needs met by public funding, the poverty rate for each state, and pending legislation to ban or restrict abortion services, demand for contraceptive care and services is expected to increase. The final round of Community Health Awards will go to clinics in Louisiana, Missouri, Tennessee and Texas.
The announcement represents Bayer’s third round of investments in the program, which will expand its existing reach to more women. In the year As of 2020, the partnership between Bayer and Direct Aid has reached over 33,324 women through service, training, education, outreach and community outreach through grassroots programs such as mobile health units, increasing footprints and providing education using digital media.
