Plates – Georgia Tech tight end Dylan Leonard (Milton, Ga./Milton HS) 2022 William V. The National Football Foundation announced Wednesday that it has been named a Campbell Cup semifinalist. The Campbell Trophy is awarded annually to college football’s top scholar-athlete by the NFL.
To be nominated for the Campbell Trophy, a player must have a 3.2 grade point average or higher, be a starter or significant contributor, and demonstrate exemplary leadership.
Leonard, a junior business administration major, arrived at Georgia Tech as a walk-on in 2019 and quickly earned a scholarship after appearing in all 12 games as a true freshman. He started 13 of 31 games as a Yellow Jacket, serving as a game captain and representing Tech at the 2022 Atlantic Coast Conference kickoff. During his time on the Flats, he participated in various community service initiatives, including with Habitat for Humanity, the Salvation Army, and local youth organizations.
The National Football Foundation will select a list of semifinalists on October 26 with 12-14 finalists who will each receive an $18,000 graduate scholarship. The 2022 Campbell Cup winner will be announced on December 6 at 64.Th NFF Awards Dinner in Las Vegas.
Leonard and the Yellow Jackets return to action Saturday when they travel to No. 24 Pitt. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m., and the game will be televised nationally on the ACC Network.
