It’s unwise to shell out $800 for a smartwatch, and there’s no confidence that it will last a lifetime. That might be a slight overstatement, but no matter how you choose to look at it, the new Apple Watch Ultra is, in Apple’s own words, “the most rugged and capable smartwatch” yet. It is ‘the perfect balance between elegance, rust and weight’ with its stunning titanium frame.
It is common for Apple devices to pass rigorous tests regarding their extravagant claims; Not surprisingly, the Apple Watch Ultra is already under the hammer and in the diving classes. Now the experts at iFixit have taken the Ultra into their hands and done what they know best. The bloggers have given us a detailed look at the watch to help us understand the repair status of the new Apple device.

Presented in a 49mm titanium case, the Apple Watch Ultra is basically designed as a tracking device, which you can take 100 meters underwater, to the desert or wherever life takes you. The completely redesigned watch is a departure from the same watch form Apple has been offering since 2014. The design has been praised and even criticized by some for its bold and bulky look, however, it’s still the last thing iFixit thinks about.
These people show that the Apple Watch Ultra can be opened from the front and back. For the first time on the Apple Watch, the back has screws to open the ceramic case, which increases the possibilities for repairs and battery replacement. The build is sturdy with easily accessible GPS antennas (which means better GPS accuracy on the watch) and a rubber-like gasket that makes the unit waterproof. The moment the gasket is removed, the rear panel is destroyed. Interestingly, the watch is completely waterproof unless replaced.
The battery is not accessible from the holder, instead, the screen must be cracked. The titanium case is combined with a flat sapphire crystal display, which does not make it easy to get under it. In fact, the folks at iFixit cracked open the OLED screen in the process to get to the Apple Watch Ultra’s 2.1Wh battery, which is bigger than the 1.19 Wh battery in the Apple Watch Series 8.
